Season of change...
This coming year is going to bring a lot of change and celebrating so many milestones that it has my spirit on edge (to say the least).
Even with "positive changes" there is a loss of the "old" life and the rhythms that felt known, felt manageable, felt safe. Change of any kind requires stepping out into unknown territory that demands faith, the willingness to learn new things and accept a life that doesn't look like the one I've grown use to.
At the beginning of Cooper's diagnosis I remember writing a blog, dreaming of this season that we are now stepping into. Over the next year, every single person in our family has some pretty big milestones to celebrate (my 40th birthday, Addy's 18th birthday, Bria's 16th birthday, Sadie's 13th birthday, our 20th anniversary, Cooper ringing the bell, Addy's graduation)...
When I wrote that blog, I had no idea what would unfold over the next couple years, what it would look like when we got here. And somehow, we are here!
Today Cooper started his 1st day of 5th grade. He's at a new school this year but it didn't feel quite so "new" because almost all of his friends are there now! He was so excited to be back with his "crew".
These 3 have been friends since they were babies! 🥹💙
(1st day of Kinder- 1st day of 5th)
Driving to school we were talking about what this year would look like and he says, "Mom, this year I will be going to school normal for half the year, like everyone else, when I am done with cancer."
That's his phrase, "when I am done with cancer"...
That February finish line is a light in sight!
This morning felt so... ordinary. Non-dramatic. Special.
I stood there watching him interact with his friends in line getting ready to walk in the doors and just smiled. I've prayed for these ordinary moments so much.
I saw this quote this morning and I don't think I could've described it any better.

Today was a miracle.
An ordinary day.
Thank you Jesus.
🧡 Prayer Requests 🧡
-Coop's bilirubin has been quite high, the docs aren't worried about it but of course I worry about his liver. Prayers for protection around his liver as he processes so many drugs still.
-Protection against all these school germs as a new year starts.
-For an ordinary, "boring" year 🥰
🧡 Much Love,
Cooper's Mama
